Description
Towards Understanding Islam is one of Mawdudi’s most popular books. The Urdu original, written in 1932, was intended as a first introduction to Islam for students and laymen and soon became a popular reader. Over a million copies have so far appeared in many of the worlds languages, including Arabic, English, Persian, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Swahili, Turkish, Indonesian, Bengali and Hindi.
Towards Understanding Islam is an elementary study of the basic concepts and principles of Islam. It offers a simple, understandable and unsophisticated interpretation of the meaning and message of Islam for the ordinary reader, particularly the young. It is not written in the brow-beating style of theology books, rich in awe-inspiring jargon and legal quibbling, but of little help in bringing the reader into direct contact with the spirit of the faith.
