Understanding Islam through translated Quran

“Retiree Tan Seow Poo Is Curious to Know about Islamic teaching and the interpretation of holy book of Islam by scholars. He was among the first to obtain a copy of the translated version of the Quran Gift Programme here”.

Reading the translated book means that I would be able to equip myself with facts before giving opinions. “I have a friend in Johor and when we meet up, we would discuss religion in general. He said he would get me a translated version of the Quran, but was unable to do so.”

“When I learnt about the Free Quran Gift project, I decided to come over and collect one,” Said Tan

A total of 500 free copies of the Quran, translated into English, Chinese, Tamil, and Japanese, were given out during the programme by IPSI Malaysia at its building here on Wednesday.

Tan, 72, said he looked forward to reading by English scholars and now I can read a translated version written by an Islamic scholar.” said the former air traffic controller

Ipsi Malaysia president Kamarudin Abdullah said this was the first time they were organising the programme.

“In 2003, I carried out a similar initiative on my own at my store in Bishop Street and it receives and an overwhelming response”

That’s why we decided to bring back this programme,” he said, adding that it was part of an effort for people to have a better understanding of Islam.
